NewKentucky Scholastic Circuit: season rankings and All-Kentucky Teams

About

The Kentucky Chess Association (KCA) promotes chess across Kentucky, for players of every age and strength, from those just learning the rules to masters. It is Kentucky's state affiliate of US Chess, the national governing body for chess, and is run by volunteers.

What we do

  • State championships. We run Kentucky's official championships, including the Kentucky Open and the Kentucky Closed invitationals, and keep the list of state champions going back to 1946.
  • Scholastic chess. We run the K-12 championship season, from the regional Quads through the State Grades, State Individuals, Blitz and Bughouse, and State Team championships, and help schools start and run chess clubs.
  • Women's and girls' chess. We hold the Kentucky Women and Girls Open and keep women and girls informed about events across the state.
  • Finding a game. We keep scholastic and open tournament calendars and a list of chess clubs around the state.
  • Kentucky chess history. The Kentucky Chess Hall of Fame honors the people who shaped chess in Kentucky.

Get involved

The KCA holds its annual meeting of members during the Kentucky Open each summer; see Governance for the bylaws and current officers. We are always looking for volunteers, especially tournament directors and people to help promote chess around the state. If you'd like to help, e-mail [email protected].
